Privacy Policy

How ShadowDex uses local game progress, temporary multiplayer data, cookies, and Google AdSense.

Information stored on your device

Solo challenge progress, daily guesses, cry progress, type-lab progress, trainer XP, levels, badges, Pokémon discoveries, sound and motion preferences, and a multiplayer reconnect token are stored in your browser’s local storage. This lets the site continue a game without creating an account.

Starting over replaces that challenge’s saved run. Trainer progress remains until you clear site data, use browser controls to remove it, or the browser removes it. ShadowDex does not receive trainer or solo progress merely because it is saved locally.

Temporary multiplayer data

When you create or join a lobby, ShadowDex processes the trainer name you enter, lobby code, game settings, answers, scores, timestamps, and a cryptographically generated player token. Do not use a real full name or other personal information as a trainer name.

This information is used to synchronize the match. Lobby records and answers expire four hours after the lobby is created and are removed during normal cleanup. ShadowDex does not provide public profiles, public chat, or a searchable lobby directory.

Server and security information

Like most hosted websites, infrastructure providers may process routine request information such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamps, and security logs to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.

ShadowDex does not ask for payment information, precise location, government identifiers, passwords, or Pokémon account credentials.

Your choices and contact

You can clear local game data in your browser, decline optional advertising consent where offered, or contact hello@shadowdex.ca with a privacy question. Because solo progress has no account identifier and normally never leaves the device, the ShadowDex Team may be unable to recover or identify it.

This policy will be updated when data practices materially change. The updated date at the top of the page indicates the current version.
